General Accountant Job at NEC-STREIT (U) LTD Full Time

NEC-STREIT (U) LTD is a Joint Venture Company between National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and STREIT Group for the manufacture and assembly of armoured vehicles for both military and VIP civilians. NEC is the commercial arm of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/ Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) which was established in 1989 by the Act of Parliament to produce goods and services that are beneficial to the Defence Forces, Veterans of UPDF and the general public.

For this purpose NEC-STREIT (U) LTD is looking for a competent person to hire for the position of General Accountant:

Job Title: General Accountant 
Reports to: General Manager (NSU) / Accounts & Finance Department Management (UAE headquarters)  
Work Location: NEC Streit Uganda Facility (NSU)

Job Summary:
Perform general accounting and financial reporting functions for local management and external reporting needs in accordance with general accounting principles and procedures as well as in compliance with company policies and relevant local, federal and international law

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work
• Responsible for daily posting and keeping the books of accounts accurate and updated
• Control bank accounts, cash collection and deposits, inventory differences, guarantee deposit accounts
• Responsible for account reconciliations that include multi-currency inter-company accounts as well as bank accounts
• Manage monthly payroll and sales commission e Manage all receivables and payables
• Register and submit accurate tax reports in a timely manner
• Liaising with banks e Prepare all required documents to process credit facilities, bank guarantees and L/Cs
• Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of accurate financial reports (as per the below list of reports) and supporting schedules, as required
• Responsible for timely fund requests for all ongoing and new projects
• Perform assignments and tasks given by the management
• Manage and support junior staff of the department
• Analyze financial information, call attention to trends, make recommendations, collect information and prepare reports
• Highlight to management potential issues affecting expenses, balances, or cash flow

Desired Education, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting and Management
• A minimum of 5+ years accounting experience in the Manufacturing field e A minimum of 2+ years SAP experience (S/4 HANA knowledge is an advantage) e Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and taxation
• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) e Fluent English is a must
• Strong communication skills e Exceptional technical and analytical accounting skills, specifically in the areas or financial modelling, analysis and reporting
• Budgeting and forecasting experience e Good understanding of relevant legislation and internal and external compliance requirements
• Experience managing day-to-day operational issues with the management
